Pronouns: ia

Boyd is revitalising the Māori language with his children raised as native speakers, contributing to transformation of the health system with a focus on equity, and sharing love, laughter and dad jokes.

Boyd is Te Rarawa, Ngā Puhi, Tainui, and Ngāti Porou, born in Tāmaki Mākaurau (Auckland) and raised in Hokianga.

Boyd has been privileged to see Māori leadership in many forms as a young man growing up with parents who were part of the Ngā Tamatoa movement and later witnessing so many great leaders in his kāinga (home lands) in Whirinaki.

Since 2003, Boyd has had a career in public health through various roles in NGOs, government agencies, tertiary institutions, local councils, Marae Committees, and other community groups.

Boyd is honoured to be the Chief Executive of Te Taumata Hauora o Te Kahu o Taonui Iwi-Māori Partnership Board (IMPB) for the Northern Region, formed to facilitate the return of decision-making to whānau and to articulate collectively agreed priorities to determine the Crown investment into managing those priorities. Ultimately seeking to achieve equitable investment, equity of health access and outcomes, and to ensure the Crown response to whānau is led by whānau, hapū, iwi, and community.

Boyd completed his Master of Social Change Leadership in 2021. He considers any degree of any kind from any institution to be a sign that an individual has the support of their village to achieve a goal.

I aspire to create opportunities for whānau to be in greater control of their resources and environment to create inter-generational brilliance.
